A great last weekend at Cadwell Park !

As some of you may know Cadwell park is a track that I don’t have much luck @ having crashed out of both rounds last year with a best result of 8th.

This time, luckily, it was different!
The weather at Cadwell is never very reliable but we had a fair bit of sun shining this weekend.

Friday practice

Greg Madero #60 and I were two of the fastest in class around the track. It was a great feeling for me to be comfortable enough to be competitive.

Saturday morning Qualifying

It had been raining hard overnight so I went out to qualify on wet tyres and managed to secure 5th on the Grid. The team and I were happy with this and looked forward to a dry first race.

Race 1

After a fair few battles and not the best of starts I was able to finish 4th right on the back wheel of the rider in front. A 4 position improvement over last year and so nearly on the podium.

Race 2

I had a great start but got stuck in traffic and had to carve my way back through the pack, eventually crossing the line in 5th.

Race 3

A wet race as Cadwell Park’s notoriously fickle weather played its hand. Off the start visibility was poor, just little red lights flashing away in a cloud of spray. We were trying out some different wets and I was getting some serious aquaplaning at the end of the straights. Sam Mousley sneaked past during one such moment, and we had a close fight till the end of the race to finish 3rd with 2nd fastest time of the race.

For sure will never forget that one, never before has my bike tried to kill me so many times in one race!!

Race 4

The rain had pulled away and the track had started drying in sections. We all knew that it would be a tricky one on tyre choice. We went for full drys and hoped that I could stick to the dry lines. On the warm up lap I realised that the track was not so dry and the last section completely wet, for sure my heart rate went up but it was too late to change, and too dry for wets, soo ..

Off we went as fast as we could, I noticed the guys who were on wets so I tried to make up as much time as possible in the dry sections and lose as little as possible through the wet sections.

Had some great little fights with Ben Tolliday, Max Dixon, and Alex Platt. After a few laps I started to get bad arm pump, and realising that we had pulled a gap from the rest of the field I played it safe to finish a comfortable 4th.

Great results on this last round 2016, we finished 6th out of 48 in the championship even though we only contested half of the rounds, this is an impressive performance from Apex Evolution Racing Team.

A massive thanks to my team and all the people who made this possible

We are now preparing to start a new chapter for next season with a move to Spain to race in the CEV Moto2 European championship. This is a big move with new challenges but I am confident that we will make it work. We already have a good structure going forwards and are looking for more support to make this work so if anyone out there is interested in getting involved please get in touch.
